So Long to Ya 2010

I would like to thank the folks of JibJab.com for doing the political bit of this entry for me.

the most expensive item for Christmas I got that wasn't money was the Sunday Night Football CookBook, lotta tasty recipes in there, I wont be able to share any of it with ya as I'm sure John Madden wouldn't like me giving out his signature seafood dish.

I can run Gimp on this old mac so I may be making my own graphics. My good Friend Kamden is baptising me into Magic: The Gathering and we are even in talks of possibly doing a collaborative podcast.

As a new year draws upon us, we look at what is to come:

  • do or die moments for the Obama/Biden administration
  • The possibility of no 2011 NFL season
  • A MLB that is still stuck in the past by it's own will
  • The possibility of a second Korean War
  • The Academy Awards
  • Loss of virginity
  • Food
And so it is so long
farewell
auf Wiedersehen
and goodby

See ya in 2011!

The Password Is: WTF?

Rex Ryan gets smeared, bipartisanship in the US senate, the states are getting a wet xmas over a white xmas, and North Korea is threatening nuclear warfare in the name of God...

The Rex Ryan matter will not be commented on in length, you wanna get nitty gritty with it? then look else where.

Picks NOW and the winners are in bold:

Carolina @ Pittsburgh
Dallas @ Arizona
Washington @ Jacksonville
Detroit @ Miami
San Francisco @ St. Louis
Tennessee @ Kansas
NY Jets @ Chicago
New England @ Buffalo
Baltimore @ Cleveland
Houston @ Denver
San Diego @ Cincinnati
Indianapolis @ Oakland
NY Giants @ Green Bay
Seattle @ Tampa Bay
Minnesota @ Philadelphia
New Orleans @ Atlanta

with the lame duck session FINALY OVER we got DADT out the door and out of our law,
immigrants will still need to do there living here the old fashioned way with DREAMS death,
the States and the Russians can feel safe from missing nukes a while long,
some of healthcare is coming into play,
we are stuck with the bush taxes a while longer,
unemployment insurance stays a while longer. all that and it was still a nightmare,

wonder what the next congress will look like...

Climate change is rearing its ugly head, its raining in utah rather than snowing, so the slopes this new years might be slushy up there, some of my furry friends are planning to go up to the slopes for some skiing and snowboarding, I'd go but my right knee is being belligerent and i already have plans somewhat in place with Kamden. (his blog here: http://humanepredator.blogspot.com/ )

at this point i would bitch and moan about North Korea about being the instigators in the cold war with there neighbor South Korea, but im too tired to do that as of this post, if they do anything stupid I'll talk about it when im not feeling like im gonna pass out on this keyboard.

TRON Legacy Review

When I first saw the teaser for this film my inner geek bounced around like a child about to go to DisneyLand, after seeing the film, the geek ain't gonna sleep for a while.

The film starts in 2D in the real world, over the 2D film opener sequence Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) disappears leaving his son an orphan, fast forward to present day and Sam Flynn is a grown adult. Alan Bradley (Bruce Boxleitner) speaks with Sam that Kevin paged him from a number no longer in service, he goes to the arcade Kevin once ran, upon finding the office Sam is zapped into The Grid, thus beginning the 3D part of the film which its entirety is the best part of the film, its got comedy, romance, action and drama all in a perfect balance. I wanna break it down for ya here:

DECADENT EYE CANDY
The visuals for The Grid world are sexy alone without the 3D filming, but with the 3D filming the depth is revealed, where most movies filmed in 3D tent to abuse the privilege of filming with 3D cameras with cliches (alla final destination) TRON Legacy doesn't! instead the guys use 3D filming to bring out the depth of the environment and especially with the action sequences. using 3D ONLY when on the grid was a wise move.

THE PERFECT CAST
The acting is Top Notch especialy from Jeff Bridges who plays both hero and villain with some serious panache. His reprisal of Kevin Flynn is dead on, you could not ask for a better performance! unfortunatly Bruce Boxleitner who reprises his roll of Alan Bradley doesn't make a lot of appearances in this film. Garrett Hedlund who plays Sam Flynn does his roll well, I can't name anyone who I would have replace him in the film. Olivia Wilde does a great performance as the new female character Quorra.

EARGASMS
I got the soundtrack to the film a little after iTunes released it, Daft Punk's work on the music does the film great justice, there work on the synthesizers and orchestra is a real treat to the ears both on screen and off. Sound editing is dead on, not oscar worthy mind you but still wonderful.

WRITTEN TRUE
The writing is the biggest part that blew me away, the visuals coming in a close 2nd. It did not once deter from the first TRON film, every second keeping true to the original. They were able to keep the personality traits of the characters true to the classic, one word: Flawless.

This is a MUST SEE IN 3D, do not see it in 2D theater.

Whose Next?

First off, in regards to my worst case scenario for Lebron James in my last post, I'm glad i was way off.

NFL

ever since the half way point this season it seems that after a loss in an important game one team or another gives the head coach the boot.

  • Wade Phillips out from Dallas.
  • Brad Childress out from Minnesota
  • the WHOLE Coaching staff out of Buffalo
  • Josh McDaniels out of Denver.
which begs the question; whose next?

The anarchist in me says it's Mike Singletary from San Fran, but after looking over the numbers I doubt that will happen. San fran has been up and down since they got a win in week 6 and can look to improve with the remaining schedule, This week they host the Seattle Seahawks which has been up and down from the start of the season. neither of these teams are playoff bound for sure, but at this point San Francisco can still salvage and prevent a loosing season and Singletary can keep his gig going into 2011.

A Little Thing Called "Karma"

All sports in this entry.

LeBron and Cleveland

Cav's fans are screwing there own team over with there cold blooded hatred (which they are only capable of) over LeBron, it may even put him into an ICU or a Body bag, yes I really do see that happening. I have never seen so much hatred over an individual athlete since Michael Vick was charged with dog fighting.

I'm not making this up, I honestly see this happening and it wouldn't surprise me if it came true. It only takes one guy to end the season if not the life of another individual, One sly individual to sneak a concealable weapon in and attack.

I will be watching this game closely, and for the cities sake the scenario mentioned above better not happen.

Best case scenario is a game where Cav's fans boo LeBron through out the game, but it will not matter how loud they are. by focusing on there "enemy" they take all atention off there abandoning there team to envoke hate on a single individual.

I have Miami winning on the road by 10 points.

TCU to Big East

what ever the reason may be for TCU to go to a far away conference be it money, pride, the desire to shut everyone up in a championship game.

cause at the end of the day, none of it matters.

The school can get all the money it wants from the games, the players won't get a penny of it no matter how hard they play, There throwing, catching, running, and kicking the ball, as well as dodging other kids as big if not bigger than themselves at the cots of possible personal injury. Ever since I started following off field news all i ever got out of the BCS/playoff debate was drama, and honestly it pisses me off to the point of not caring about the bowl games, now I see it as just another game in the season.

I'm a Utah Utes fan and proud of it, TCU can do what ever they please, but at the end of the day the only thing that matters to me as a fan of the sport is the game and the people who play the game.

That is all world, Stay sane.
